The status can take some time to update. After starting or stopping the server, wait a minute or so before checking status again.
If the server is running, but status is offline, wait a minute. If it doesn't change after a few minutes, there's likely a problem with my network setup.
Currently, I use api.mcstatus.io to get server status. Eventually, I'd like to avoid using an external service, but I'm not sure when that will happen
